Virtual Open Evening Slides and FAQs on the 20/21 GP Contract and PCN DES
These are now ready for you to read and reflect on and are  as up to date as they possibly can be.  Chat over your plans with your practice teams, and other core network practices. Your clinical director will then be able to submit your decisions in good time for the 31 May 2020 deadline: Cambs LMC Contract PCN DES FAQs 2020 to 2021
Care Home LES
In light of the 1 May letter from Sir Simon Stevens, we have been working with the CCG to help make the current Nursing and Residential homes LESs both ‘surge-proof’ and resourced for the months ahead, factoring in an additional investment for LD beds and allowing practices the space to determine how they may wish to collaborate to deliver efficiencies through choice rather than compulsion. We have come to an agreement and the CCG will be writing to you later today with what we have negotiated. Some elements are a national directive, but we have sought to keep this as an increased investment at a practice level.
BAME risk assessment for staff members
We have been receiving a number of queries around risk assessments for staff members especially with the increasing awareness around risk for our BAME colleagues.
The BMA has published some guidance around this, but has since written to Sir Simon Stevens as it recognises that this document does not go far enough in the way of practical support: https://www.bma.org.uk/advice-and-support/covid-19/your-health/covid-19-risk-assessment
We are aware that there are other risk assessment tools available for use, and although we are unable as an LMC to recommend an individual tool, we will publish some examples on our website in the Coronavirus section.  Please be aware that these tools are constantly being reviewed and updated in light of new data.

Whit Bank Holiday
Just to clarify that Monday 25th May will be a bank holiday and practices are expected to be closed with the normal provision for out of hours across the county.  The LMC office will also be closed.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who are working over the weekend and hope that those of you who are not, get a well-earned break without needing to complete another NHSE template by 0800 Tuesday morning. Instead we have the FAQs on the DES and the contract for you to reflect on. You see? We give and we take away…

And something to look forward to…
“Life after CCT” GP Conference 1st July 2020
Following on from the very successful LMC “Life After CCT” conference last year, we are hosting a further event on 1st July 2020 by Zoom, in collaboration with the Training Hub.  We are delighted that our nationally renowned speakers are happy to take part in this virtual conference, which will still be live and will offer the opportunity to ask questions.
We will be covering negotiating how to manage complaints and NHSE performance processes; how to make appraisals work for you; how to set up and work as a locum; guidance on taking parental leave and flexible working; advice for those investigating partnership and skills to help you tackle the marathon (not sprint) that is a career in GP.
Speakers include sessional GP leaders of national renown such as Ben Molyneux, Zoe Norris, Karthiga Gengatharan and Stephanie de Giorgio.
Please book through the training hub: https://cptraininghub.nhs.uk/event/gp-life-after-cct/
