Our Board & Committee Members

I am a local GP  and Chair of Cambridgeshire LMC, having qualified from the Royal Free Hospital in 1995 and after trying the world of obstetrics moved into general practice in 2000. I initially enjoyed the experience of locums and sessional work, whilst having my family and following my husband around the world, but in 2010 took the plunge and became a part-time partner.  In 2020, I stepped back from partnership to take on more LMC work alongside a sessional role and am the current GPC regional representative for Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire, sitting on the BMA Eastern Regional Council.  Married to an academic Ophthalmologist with three teenage boys, I understand only too well the challenges of work/life balance and hence is passionate about my LMC role in supporting doctors. When given time, I love swimming in big oceans, wine tasting with friends, travelling and hanging out with my border terrier, Monty.

I came to general practice via a PhD in cell biology and a consequent path towards academic medicine.  Ultimately the working style and patient relationships meant more than the academia, so I have now been a partner in Soham for (almost) 20 years, the last 3 of which have been spent as managing partner in a now 3 site practice.  I have until this year, always worked in the out of hours service too, and worked as an appraiser and medical student teacher.  It has been busy but has given me a broad view of the ways in which all GPs make general practice work for their patients.  When not working, I am a keen and moderately capable bassoonist, and an equally keen but even less capable pianist, and find solace and tranquillity in the Suffolk countryside when I get the chance.

I am a local GP, having trained in Cambridge, and worked as a salaried GP for five years before becoming a partner last year.  Elected to the LMC Committee in 2017, I have attended several national LMC Conferences as a representative, and am also LMC Treasurer.  I love my job as a GP and feel passionately about promoting and protecting the role of primary care in the wider health system.  Outside of the day job, I have two young children, and fill whatever spare time I may find with running and triathlon training.

I qualified from UCL in 2003, and completed my GP training in north London in 2008 having held national negotiating roles for GP Registrars and junior doctors at the British Medical Association (BMA).

I was a partner in a GMS practice until I was invited to become a medical director for Londonwide LMCs in 2016. I joined Cambs LMC in 2018 before taking on the role of Chief Executive in 2019. I have continued to work as a GP throughout, albeit nowadays I practise in a low volume capacity, close to home in Hertfordshire.

Alongside my role leading Cambs LMC, I am currently seconded to the BMA, as the Chair of England’s GP Committee, responsible for negotiating the GMS contract annually, since I was elected in August 2023. Whilst my brain is engaged at BMA House, my heart remains firmly rooted at Cambs LMC.

Having trained in Cambridgeshire, I have spent time working as a locum, a salaried GP, a GP partner and a GP retainer. I have very much enjoyed the flexibility and variety that a career in general practice has given me. My present portfolio role outside of general practice includes being a LMC committee member, LMC treasurer and board member, working as a coach and investing time with the local community group On The Verge Cambridge.

Having trained locally, I worked as a GP partner for over 2 decades and am now a locum and portfolio GP. I enjoy the variety of my roles and am fortunate to be involved in GP training, working as a medical student examiner, alongside supporting GPs through appraisal. More recently I have been working for the Cambridge and Peterborough Training Hub as the retention lead and provide peer support for doctors of all grades at Addenbrookes with the ” Doctors4Doctors” service. My core role continues to be seeing patients in general practice.

Having trained locally, I was a GP Partner for nearly 18 years. I now work as a Locum and am thoroughly enjoying the balance of clinical work alongside pursuing advanced qualifications in women’s health.

I am passionate about empowering patients, integrity and safeguarding the future of General Practice.

I am married to a teacher and have three active boys – consequently I am well versed in the challenges of balancing work and home life.

Time permitting my interests of running, reading, gardening and voluntary work (currently Running Leadership for a NFP women’s running group), are restorative.

I trained in Cambridge and Huntington and has been a partner at Alconbury and Brampton Surgery for 21 years. I am a trainer and have been an LMC Committee Member for over 15 years.

I’m a GP partner within a single PCN of 6 sites and 57000 patients. With over a decade in this role I’ve had many roles including clinical director, GP trainer and am the current director of learning and development. I believe in the value of primary care and the need to nurture our multi disciplinary team. Professional interests include mental health provision, women’s health and education. I joined the LMC in 2023.

I’ve been a GP partner in Lakeside Healthcare at Yaxley in Peterborough for 7 years after a brief spell as a salaried GP locally. Prior to this, I studied in beautiful Edinburgh before completing VTS in the Peterborough scheme. Over the past 2 years, I have been the Non-Executive Director for our practice on the Lakeside Healthcare Board, which has 8 practices spread across 3 different ICB regions, serving almost 170,000 patients. This has given me a greater insight into running General Practice at scale and also the breath of issues practices are faced with in the current climate. I am passionate about representing the practices and doctors of our region, who have faced an unprecedented struggle over the past few years. They require appropriate funding streams and reduced bureaucracy to be able to serve their communities moving forward. Outside medicine, I’m an enthusiast foodie and love travelling, listening to music, good books and spending time with my two young children.

I have been a GP Partner in Huntingdon for 23 years and am now also a PCN Clinical Director, Trainer and Appraiser.  I trained at Addenbrooke’s, Hinchingbrooke and Peterborough Hospitals and am married to a teacher with three children.  These roles and experiences have convinced me of the importance of a strongly represented and well-resourced general practice to deliver effective care for patients and an attractive, sustainable future for local GPs.  I have had the privilege of understanding the challenges of being a GP from many different perspectives which will inform my views as an LMC representative.

I have been a Cambridgeshire based GP partner for ten years and currently also work as Medical Director for Cambs GP Network and PCN Clinical Director for Cambridge North Villages. I have previous experience as a local learning disabilities commissioner and as a cardiology doctor at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

I am passionate about ensuring adequate resourcing of general practice and regularly speak at national and UK LMC conferences to this end. In 2023 I was elected as a director of the General Practitioner’s Defence Fund (GPDF) – an organisation that funds national BMA GP representation, LMC conferences, legal interventions and initiatives to support general practice. In this role I currently lead on the RebuildGP campaign – notable achievements have included national press coverage, meetings with leading politicians and several parliamentary questions.

I am delighted to serve on the committee of such a progressive LMC.

I’ve worked in the Cambridge area since 1998, mainly in a Partner role. My current roles are as Managing Partner at Grove Medical Practice, St Ives and Clinical Director of St Ives PCN. I was privileged to be elected to the LMC role in 2023.  We are fortunate to have an excellent LMC and I believe we need it now, more than ever. General Practice is a vital component of the NHS, and I want to be involved in whatever way I can, to see it flourish.

I qualified as a GP in 2015 so still consider myself quite ‘new’.  I am currently the CCG Clinical Lead for Obesity and Diabetes and in the past, I served for 12 years in the British Army.  I hope that this experience enables me to positively contribute and bring a fresh perspective to LMC conversations and I look forward to enthusiastically representing all GPs, especially Portfolio and Salaried.

I work as a salaried GP in South Cambridgeshire and have a previous background in science before switching to Graduate Entry Medicine. I am an enthusiastic medical educator having completed an ST4 Quality Improvement and Educational Leadership Fellowship and published in the area of medical education. I currently act as a facilitator for the University of Cambridge Integrated Biomedical Problem Solving Course and I am training to be a GP educator. As a First5 GP I am completing a New to Practice Fellowship and my main special interest in Dermatology (I hold a Diploma in Dermatology in Clinical Practice).

This year (2023-2024) I am on the LMC conference team and am passionate about helping to bring about positive change for the profession particularly in the areas of GP retention, easing of workload and facilitation of workflow systems and processes between primary and secondary care.

I have worked in rural and City practices within Cambridgeshire as a Sessional GP and now a GP Partner for 4 years. With my roles on the CCG Ethics committee and as a PCN Clinical Director, I understand the difficulties that primary care faces.  I feel passionately about engaging with the primary and secondary care interface to hold system partners to account and reduce the level of support we are having to provide to them as GPs.
