Paramedic

Paramedic – Eye, Thorney & Whittlesey
Hours: 2-3 days per week
Salary: Dependant on experience
Start date: ASAP
We are looking for a motivated and fully qualified paramedic to join our team. The successful applicant will be asked to visit registered patients of the practice who require acute home visits. They will also be responsible for the management of care homes assigned to the practices, carrying out weekly ward round reviews with each home.
The successful applicant will work autonomously within their professional scope of practice, providing high quality assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with acute and urgent clinical needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Paramedic who enjoys working independently, developing strong relationships with patients and colleagues, and making a positive contribution to the delivery of primary care.
Key Responsibilities
  • It will be necessary to attend and contribute to various Practice meetings as requested.
  • Undertake comprehensive clinical assessments of patients presenting with acute and urgent medical problems.
  • Assess, diagnose and manage patients within your professional competence and scope of practice.
  • Undertake appropriate clinical examinations and investigations.
  • Develop and implement appropriate treatment and management plans.
  • Recognise red flags and signs of deterioration and arrange appropriate escalation or onward referral.
  • Provide appropriate safety-netting advice and ensure patients understand when and how to seek further medical assistance.
  • Liaise with GPs and other members of the clinical team where patients require further assessment or management.
  • Carry out appropriate clinical assessments in patients’ homes and develop management plans accordingly.
  • Recognise when a patient’s condition requires urgent or emergency intervention and arrange appropriate escalation.
  • Liaise with community services, ambulance services, secondary care and other healthcare professionals where required.
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records of all consultations and clinical decisions.
  • Carry out medication reviews.
  • Provide compassionate, respectful and professional care to all patients.
  • Involve patients and, where appropriate, their families or carers in decisions about their care.
  • Treat all patients fairly and with dignity, respecting individual needs and preferences.
  • Promote health, wellbeing and independence wherever possible.
About You
  • Fully qualified Paramedic (essential)
  • Prescribing qualification (essential)
  • Full UK driving licence (essential – own transport is required for this role)
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Committed to providing excellent patient care
